The Patchcord Designer now offers varying wire types of similar gauges and colors to meet your application needs. For high speed and high temperature applications, VPC offers a Teflon, stranded silver plated copper wire that meets MIL-W-16878/4. VPC’s Teflon has a temperature rating of -60°C to +200°C and a voltage rating of 600 Volts.
For applications in which a lower cost is needed and wire flexibility is pertinent, irradiated PVC (XLPVC) is available, which meets UL1429 and is recognized by the MIL SPEC approval group as a comparable replacement to MIL-W-16878/1 Type B with a temperature rating of
-55°C to +105°C and a voltage rating of 600 Volts. XLPVC consists of stranded tinned copper and, like the Teflon wire, has an AWG range of 4-28 with an insulation wall thickness of .010".
