Peritec in Japan, designed, integrated, and built a Mixed Signal Multi IC Tester using VPC's G6 modular interconnect solution. This tester is intended for the automotive market, for testing electrical devices such as ECUs (Electrical Control Units), engines, audio, lock-keys, airbags, navigation systems, etc.
The unit is integrated with NI PXI cards and uses NI LabView. VPC's G6 solution enables quick and easy engaging and disengaging of the ITA and it is attached to the PCB/IC holder, on top of the tester. The solution allows for testing of both the ECU in box and printed circuit boards (PCBs). With the robust G6, the user can easily connect to a variety of DUTs while using only one test unit.
A manufacturer of ECUs for major automotive companies in Japan has integrated 75 iCon receivers and 10 iCon ITAs into their thermal test system.
This system is comprised of a 10-bay thermal chamber. Each fixture contains the DUT (ECUs) and an iCon receiver. The fixtures can contain up to 7 ECUs at one time. The receiver connects in the bay to the iCon ITA (double-ended), which then connects to the test instrumentation. The ECUs are tested for operation in temperatures ranging from -40 °C to 105°C.
